From Maple Syrup to Wellness: Packaging Solutions for Food and Everyday Essentials

From Maple Syrup to Wellness: Packaging Solutions for Food and Everyday Essentials

A bottle of maple syrup. A premium olive oil. A refreshing kombucha. A tub of protein powder. Each offers a different experience, but they all share one important detail: the packaging is part of the product.

This October, we’re spotlighting the food, wellness and household markets AO Wilson serves. From closures and glass to Pouch-Up® bags and production equipment, we help producers explore packaging that suits their products, reflects their brands and works with their operations.

Small details. A lasting impression.

A closure is often the first part of a package a customer touches; and the part they return to every time they use it. Opening, pouring, and resealing should feel like a natural extension of the product inside.

For many products, that means considering how the closure fits the container and how customers will use it. Premium water and kombucha bring their own packaging requirements, while health food products such as protein powders need practical lids for tubs that are opened repeatedly.

Closures play an important role in both product protection and presentation. Beyond bottles for beverages, we supply closures for a variety of food applications, including pasta sauces, applesauce, maple syrup, olive oils and vinegars. Whether it's a traditional glass jar or a specialty bottle, the right closure helps maintain product integrity while delivering a secure, functional and polished finish.

AO Wilson supplies closure options and works with customers on custom closure projects. Whether you’re developing a new product or refreshing an established range, we can help you explore the details that bring the package together: fit, finish, appearance, and suitability for your application.

Glass that gives your product presence

Packaging sets expectations before a customer ever tastes your product. The shape of a bottle, its proportions, and the way it displays your label all contribute to that first impression.

For producers of premium water, maple syrup, olive oil, vinegars and specialty beverages, glass is a format worth exploring. A thoughtfully chosen bottle can give a product a distinctive presence on a retail shelf, dining table, or gift display.

We offer glass bottles as well as custom glass, helping customers explore options that suit their brand and packaging needs. Selecting the bottle and closure together also helps keep the finished package cohesive from the start.

A different way to package liquids

Flexible packaging isn't just for wine. Through our partnership with Smurfit Westrock, AO Wilson offers Bag-in-Box and Pouch-Up® solutions suited to a wide range of liquids and semi-liquids, including juices, syrups, sauces, dairy products and household essentials. These formats combine product protection with convenient dispensing, offering practical packaging options for both consumer and commercial applications.

Our bag-in-box selection includes bags with center or off-center Vitop® dispensing taps, as well as 10-litre multipurpose food and beverage bags with a resealable VOP screw closure. For products such as fruit juices and edible oils, including olive oil, these options offer a practical starting point for exploring larger pack sizes and convenient dispensing.

With tap-equipped bag-in-box packaging, the inner bag contracts as liquid is dispensed, helping limit air exposure during use. Empty packaging can also be stored and transported flat, making efficient use of space before filling. AO Wilson offers unbranded cartons in several sizes and welcomes custom bag-in-box inquiries, giving producers the opportunity to create a package that carries their branding.

For a self-standing alternative, Pouch-Up® bags combine a lightweight format with a built-in handle and Vitop® dispensing tap. Available in plain white, they provide space for branding and are easy to carry and store.

Bring the package and production process together

A great package also needs a practical path through production. Filling, closing, cleaning and labelling all deserve consideration when choosing a new format or reviewing an existing operation.

AO Wilson’s equipment offering includes bottle fillers, bag-filling equipment, closing equipment and pressure-sensitive labelers. We also supply cleaning solutions and steam equipment to support production cleaning routines.

For food and beverage producers, equipment selection starts with questions such as: How does the product flow? Is it still or carbonated? What container will be used? What output is needed? Considering these details alongside the packaging helps identify suitable options for the job.

From the fill to the final label, each stage contributes to a consistent, professionally presented product.

Support that extends to everyday essentials

Our reach includes home cleaning products and health food items, too. A household product needs packaging suited to its formulation and everyday use. A protein powder brand may need the finishing detail of a well-matched tub lid.

These markets show how varied packaging needs can be and why a conversation about your specific product is so valuable.

Let’s talk about your next product

Whether you’re preparing a seasonal maple syrup gift collection, launching a specialty vinegar, expanding a kombucha range or sourcing closures for a wellness product, AO Wilson can help you explore your next step.

Cheers!
